We're delighted that our Premier External TD-W wireless outdoor sensor has achieved ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Best Buy’ verdicts in Benchmark Magazine's recent product review of external intruder detection devices.
External detection is often underused by installers and integrators as it is often assumed that passive detection devices like PIRs or PIR and microwave combinations are susceptible to false alarms. The fact is that improvements in product design mean that external detectors are now often more stable than some internal sensors.
Featuring Ricochet mesh technology and two non-overlapping PIR sensors with superior mirrored optics, the Premier External TD-W is a wireless outdoor sensor that can be used for monitoring open areas and reporting intrusions or for switching on surveillance cameras or lights. It utilises two separate, non-overlapping PIR sensors, and both must detect motion for an alert to be generated, thus minimising the chance of a false alarm. The detector is especially suited for use with Texecom Connect.
The Premier External TD-W units used in the Benchmark test was installed for six months as a part of the Benchmark Smart Solutions Project and were continuously deployed in all weathers, including extreme heat, snow, ice, rain and gales. During that time the only nuisance activations were created by intentional attempts to see how far the performance could be pushed. In normal operation there was not a single false alarm, nor were any incidents missed. There were also no problems with performance or operation.
The Benchmark Verdict
According to Benchmark Magazine, the Premier External TD-W from Texecom had the hardest workout of all the products tested, with its capabilities both as a security detector and as a trigger device for integrated solutions and automation applications being pushed to the limit.
It did not miss a single genuine intrusion and there were no issues relating to everyday performance. We are absolutely delighted that it achieved Benchmark’s ‘Outstanding’ status and was also rated ‘Best Buy’!
