This year’s IFSEC saw a series of Cortech Open Innovation Event (COIE) events, organised by Cortech Developments, held during the duration of the show.
Along with representatives from other manufacturers, Texecom’s Head of Industry Affairs, Adrian Mealing took part in a series of discussions and live software/hardware demonstrations focussing on the challenges faced by modern day control room environments. Topics discussed included intrusions, unauthorised access, fire detection, nuisance alarms and building energy efficiency.
Attendees not only saw the latest advances in security, building and fire control technology, but discovered how smarter interoperability between these systems reduces cost and risk, improves operational efficiency and provides greater situation awareness. They also earned valuable CPD points.
According to Adrian, it was a very informative event and an excellent opportunity to engage with specifiers, consultants and end users.
“End users are constantly looking for ways to control large estates with the minimal number of people, while specifiers are more concerned about interoperability as opposed to integration – they also want reassurance that products can be updated and patched where vulnerabilities are discovered,” commented Adrian after the event.
“Our forthcoming cloud services, which will allow remote upgrading and cloud management for systems, will help address these needs from both an end user and specifier perspective. I’m also glad to say that the humble intruder alarm is back on the map! The possibility of cloud management capability and true interoperability really resonates with today’s estate managers.”
The event was also deemed as a success by Cortech Developments’ Head of Sales and Marketing, Jason Blundell. “We were delighted to welcome 70 delegates to the series of events spanning the three days. By collaborating with our attending manufacturers, we were able to demonstrate how smart integration can reduce risk and cost when managing multiple technologies across multiple sites. The feedback from delegates has been extremely positive and the event has surpassed our expectations.
The COIE events concentrated on ‘mitigating the risk for workplace safety, high security and building efficiency’, providing delegates with the opportunity to see the latest advances in building, fire and security control technology and discover how smarter interoperability between these systems can reduce cost and risk, improve operational efficiency and provide greater situation awareness,” added Jason.
